A ceramic Büchner funnel is a laboratory apparatus used for filtration processes, especially in vacuum filtration. It is made of durable ceramic material, which is resistant to chemicals and high temperatures. Here’s a brief overview:

Key Features of Buchner Funnel:

• Material: Ceramic, providing high durability, chemical resistance, and heat tolerance.
• Design: It typically has a flat, perforated plate at the bottom to support filter paper, and a cylindrical body that allows for the collection of filtered liquids.
• Use: It is commonly used with a vacuum flask and a vacuum pump to separate solids from liquids efficiently. The vacuum helps speed up the filtration by pulling the liquid through the filter paper into the flask.

General Applications of a Buchner Funnel:

• Laboratories: It is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, and environmental labs for tasks like crystallization, separation, and purification of compounds.
• Filtration Process: The solid materials remain on the filter paper, while the liquid is pulled through into a flask.

The ceramic Büchner funnel’s resistance to high temperatures makes it ideal for filtering hot or corrosive liquids. It is more robust and long-lasting compared to plastic or glass versions.
